Rules of the Road for Audaxity Riders

Rider safety is our top priority—because at Audaxity, we don’t just ride; we ride with purpose, and we ride smart, every mile of the way.

Rider Safety

  • Helmets are mandatory. No exceptions.
  • Avoid riding with headphones to stay alert.
  • Ride single file and hug the right side of the road unless you’re passing. Safety first, always.
  • Use bike lanes and clear communication. Say “on your left” when passing, “car back” when needed, and call out hazards like potholes and debris to your fellow riders.
  • Stay right of the yellow lines at all times—keep it safe.
  • Fuel up properly. Rest stop location will be provided, but bring water and snacks to stay energized.
  • Mechanics will be on hand, but carry your own gear and tools to stay road-ready. A flat repair kit is a good idea to carry with you.
  • Know your route - courses will be marked with route arrows and signage.
Plan ahead with GPS. Download the free Ride with GPS app on iOS or Android to access maps before the ride.
  • Traffic remains open on the route, so ride with awareness and caution.

What You Need to Bring

  • Helmet
  • A tuned-up bike
  • A flat tire repair kit, including an extra tube
  • Appropriate layers for weather conditions
  • Water bottle
  • Bike lights: we strongly suggest you ride with a red tail light, placed on blinking mode as well as a white light, mounted on the front handlebars.
  • Sunglasses, lip balm
  • Cell phone
  • ID and money/credit card

Bicycle Laws to Ride By: Audaxity is a "rules of the road" ride!

  • Be Predictable: Know and obey traffic laws. Refer to this link for more info.
  • Stay Right: Ride in the right lane and give at least four feet from parked cars.
  • Obey Signals: Stop at red lights and stop signs. Don’t follow the pack through.
  • Look & Signal: Always check behind you before changing lanes or turns. Signal your moves.
  • Two at a Time: Keep it to two abreast, and never block traffic.
  • Hands on the Handlebars: No distractions—keep control at all times.
  • Pass with Care: Don’t pass at intersections.

Prepare for Greatness: Body and Bike

A successful ride starts with preparation. Set yourself up for an incredible day by focusing on:

Your Body: Train smart, fuel well, stay hydrated, and prioritize rest to ride at your best.

Your Bike: Check your tires, brakes, and cables to ensure they’re in top condition. Should you encounter any issues, mechanics will be stationed along the route to assist.

In the days leading up to the event, plan a light ride mid-week to keep your legs loose. Organize your gear, get a good night’s sleep, and prepare to experience something truly extraordinary.

Audaxity is a rules of the road ride. Please familiarize yourself with Wisconsin Department of Transportation traffic laws to ensure a safe ride.
