Ride to Thrive: High School Service Project Supports Cancer Research

Some people ride to win. Others ride for the challenge. Haylan Engdahl rides to make a difference. Audaxity’s mission to end cancer aligns seamlessly with a community service project at Christian Life School in Pleasant Prairie. Throughout his high school career, Haylan has been a dedicated competitive cyclist. Because of this, he saw Audaxity as the perfect way making a meaningful impact through the sport he loves.

“Competitive cycling is often seen as a selfish sport. It requires long hours on the bike with the primary goal of self-improvement,” said Haylan. “Audaxity is a refreshing way to have a greater purpose beyond myself. Riding to support cancer research makes the time and effort feel even more worthwhile.”

Haylan has launched “Ride to Thrive,” with a fundraising goal of more than $500. From March 6-16, he’ll push his limits in a challenge where supporters can pledge any amount per mile he rides. His goal is 600 miles in ten days – meaning a pledge of $0.25 per mile would result in a $150 donation.

Every dollar raised through Audaxity directly supports the MCW Cancer Center’s groundbreaking research, innovative therapies, and improved outcomes for patients and families. For Haylan, cycling has always been about pushing himself to be better, but through Audaxity, it has become about something bigger. His “Ride to Thrive” journey is proof that others can channel their interests to make an impact.

Haylan says no matter what you’re passionate about, you can turn it into a force for good. He encourages others to use their talents to eradicate cancer. Use Haylan as an inspiration to rally your friends, family, and network—whether it’s through bake sales, car washes, craft fairs, any of your hobbies can be used to help end cancer.
